In some strange logic, DDOT decided not to place speed tables along the unit block of P St NW. This is the email trail between 5C01 Commissioner Bradley Thomas and BACA President, Geovani A. Bonilla as they will continue to challenge DDOT’s decision.
Please feel free to email Mr. Ullah and Aaron Rhodes at DDOT if you disagree with this decision.

Subject: RE: DDOT Issues in SMD 5C01
Good Afternoon Mr. Ullah:
I have to echo and emphasize what B.A.C.A. President Bonilla has stated below. P Street North West between North Capitol Street and New Jersey Avenue is a dangerous corridor! Even the installation of speed tables in the 100 and 200 blocks, while having some effect on speeding in the western half of that stretch, has not curbed the problem. The speed tables are so wide and flat that the worst speed perpetrators have figured out that they don’t have to slow down very much to fly over them. In the Unit Block, between North Capitol Street and First Street, N.W., neighbors don’t even have the luxury of speed tables. This situation is unacceptable. We expect and demand solutions before someone, likely a child, is killed on that stretch.
I am copying this message to our MPD officials because one proposed solution has been to have police officers monitor speeding along P Street with vehicular mounted speed cameras. I’m sure that after a couple of weeks of having cars and trucks pulled over and ticketed, the speeding will stop just as it has on other corridors where that tactic has been employed. Meanwhile, we need DDOT to take a hard look at the unit block of P Street Northwest, not Northeast, and install speed calming measures before there is any more property damage and, more importantly, any loss of life or limb.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Mr Ulla,
Thank you for the follow up. The request however is for the unit block of P ST NW not NE. I find your conclusion to be erroneous as that block is a significantly large block and average speed is over 30 miles per hour. A child was recently hit on that block as well as several parked vehicles have been hit by speeding cars.
I’m including ANC5C01, Bradley Thomas as well as ANC 5c02, Sylvia Pinkney. Furthermore, it is not logical that the 100 and 200 blocks of P St NW would need the speed tables but not ours.
Please Explain how this conclusion was reached, which is inconsistent to the reality of this block.
Thank you.

Thank you all so much. I saw the signs today and most importantly saw Ms. Jathoo parking there and leaving her car.
Exciting – next the speed tables at the Unit Block of P St NW.
