Join us for a fun and enlightening evening with cyberculture pioneer Gareth Branwyn. Gareth will be discussing and reading from the book he’s currently working on, Borg Like Me (& Other Tales of Art, Eros, and Embedded Systems). The former Editorial Director of MAKE magazine, and a former editor at Wired, Mondo 2000, and bOING bOING (print), Gareth has been living and reporting on tech- and “sidestream” culture for over 30 years. Borg Like Me is a collection of his best work, with previously unpublished material, and deep introductions to each article that tell the backstory of its inception and what was going on at the time, in the culture at large, and in Gareth’s own personal spheres. The book promises to be an fascinating chronicle of one author’s intense, passionate, and sometimes crazy trip along the bleeding edges of art, technology, and culture at the turn of the 21st century.
