Wal-Mart’s first two D.C. stores set opening dates

D.C.’s first two Wal-Marts will open on the same day, just in time for holiday shopping: Dec. 4. Both stores will open at 8 a.m. that day, according to a statement from Wal-Mart.
The store at 5929 Georgia Ave. NW is 103,000 square feet and will feature some local retail establishments in adjacent storefronts. Oohs and Aahs soul food restaurant, which is located on U Street, will open a second location there, as we reported earlier this month.
The other District Wal-Mart, at 77 H St. NW, is smaller at 74,000 square feet. Both stores have groceries and a full-service pharmacy. Each store will employ about 300 people, according to the statement from Wal-Mart.
