How this school promotes Healthy Habits
Mundo Verde supports healthy habits by promoting hand washing, nutritious eating, physical activity and wellness education. Classes include cooking, gardening and yoga instruction. In 2013, more than 50% of Mundo Verde families commuted to school by walking, biking, or using public transportation.
How this school will use the grant prize money
Mundo Verde is moving to a newly-renovated school building in August 2014. The grant money could be used for the installation of indoor/outdoor water fountains, a school kitchen/cafeteria, development of a health education curriculum, and for providing students with access to a school nurse.
