There was a presentation at the Monday, 06-01-2015, Bates Area Civic Association meeting regarding the DMPED-controlled empty lot at 1520 North Capitol Streeet NW.

  1. I cannot help but be disappointed with this. There was plenty of interest in making this plot an urban garden. The District gov’t was willing to help us, but no one knew how to address the property. There was no agreement over which District office owned the property and how to allow a garden. A smart developer with lawyers and cash did a good job in freeing up this property for their use.
