Arrest made in Homicide:
Unit Block of New York Avenue, Northwest
(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the homicide that occurred on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at approximately 4:54 pm.
Officers from the Fifth District responded to a call for an assault in progress in the Unit block of New York Avenue, Northwest. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim unconscious and breathing suffering from head trauma. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. On Monday, July 6, 2015, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent was identified as 52-year-old Thomas Harris of Alexandria, VA.
On Wednesday, July 15, 2015, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant 24 year-old Kenneth Garner of Southeast, DC was arrested. He was charged with First Degree Felony Murder.
