From BACA resident Mr. Miles Holloman:
I am happy to announce the community Science Fest at Perry School Community Services Center, Inc. (PSCSC). This extraordinary event will be held on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM. PSCSC strives to be at the forefront for providing community –oriented programming to its constituents. Partnering to bring the Science Fest to the PSCSC facilities enables a meaningful encounter between our youth and science in our community. This exhibition will be led by trained professionals from Howard University and the NOAA Center for Atmospheric Sciences (NCAS). The experiments are designed to entertain, engage and inspire interaction from all in attendance while permitting a teaching/learning atmosphere. We also hope that it will encourage our youth to consider Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic career paths.
NCAS brings the science to communities like no other organization has and is sponsoring these experiments. They have served neighborhoods like Truxton Circle, Bloomingdale, Potomac Gardens, Pleasant Plains, Brentwood, Deanwood, Ivy City and many other DC neighborhoods. Dr. Vernon Morris, the Director of NCAS, has been a valuable partner in serving the underserved or underexposed public with a particular interest in the engagement of young people and people of color in our communities.
I am honored to announce the PSCSC, Inc. will continue to be innovative in these types of outreach programs through the guidance of its Board of Directors, Staff and all the Tenant Partners of the Center. I would like to also take this opportunity to seek your partnership and/or participation. Giving your time and talent to any and all of our programs is essential in reaching our youth with healthy alternative choices. Your financial gift will help cement the stability of our historical building institution. I appreciate your time and I hope that you will give. Thank you for allowing me to serve.
