From ANC 5E05 Commissioner Bradley Thomas:
Outstanding meeting tonight [Wednesday, 12/9]! Great turnout. Excellent presentations. Probing questions from those in attendance. Special thanks to C.O.O. Patricia Brantley and Principal Jeff Scanlon for graciously providing the meeting space at the Friendship-Armstrong Public Charter School, to Commissioners Teri Janine Quinn and Sylvia Pinkney for helping to pull us all together, to our two moderators Tommie Jones and Tsega Bekele, to the team that passed out flyers, and all of the presenters who participated tonight.
I think we made a start in addressing the issues at North Capitol Street and Florida Avenue. As we heard tonight, its about budget, allocation of resources and coordination of services. Let’s continue to focus on that corridor over the next several critical months, especially, as Commissioner Quinn emphasized, keeping in mind that the mayor’s budget determination process is already underway and we need to make sure our concerns are reflected in that process.
Remember that as to the disposition of the North Capitol and Bates Streets lots, we have until this Friday, December 11th to weigh in with our opinions as to which, if either, of the bidding teams we would like the city to award the development contract to. If you have an opinion, one way or the other, that you would like the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) to consider, send it to Tsega Bekele, Special Assistant to the Deputy Mayor, at firstname.lastname@example.org. His telephone number is (202) 724-2370. If you send him an e-mail message, feel free to copy me on the message if you like or, if you would prefer not to copy me, that’s fine also. What’s important is that everybody who wants to be heard gets his or her comments in by no later than this Friday.
Thanks again for coming out tonight. This was our last SMD meeting for 2015. Happy Holidays to all and if I don’t see you before then, I’ll see you in 2016.
Bradley A. Thomas
