Now is the time to choose LOVE!
This week I began painting a large mural of Ferdinand the Bull in the town of Ferdinand, Indiana, which illustrates the story of a bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in bullfights (see pictures below). This public painting which promotes pacifism under much stress coincidentally is being installed the same week that our country has enabled the most hateful aspects of our culture to dominate. More than ever NOW is the time for a movement towards LOVE, a movement towards equality and a movement towards dismantling the systematic processes that keep us from this. To do this is a choice. To look in the mirror and ask yourself, “how can I become a more accepting and loving towards ALL people?” is a choice. To look at people you believe to be “the other” and to ask yourself, “how is my own humanity reflected in them?” is a choice. To NOT do this is also a choice, which will have karmic repercussions both personally and culturally. The change starts with you. The change starts with us. And no one is excused. We all, each and everyone of us need to choose to do this work. We need to choose LOVE.
