The next Single Member District Meeting is scheduled for this Saturday, January 11th, from 9:30 to 11:30 am, in the Media Center at Dunbar High School, 101 N St NW. The focus of this Saturday’s meeting will be on the development of new D.C. Comprehensive Plan. Evelyn Kasongo, the Lead Planner for Ward 5, has agreed to participate in our meeting on Saturday, to answer questions and receive feedback. The Comprehensive Plan is the detailed blueprint for residential and commercial development, population density and traffic planning for the District of Columbia for the next 20 years. There are numerous elements in the plan that directly impact our neighborhood. Once the plan has been adopted by the Council and signed into law by the Mayor, it will set the parameters for the city’s growth for many years to come.
The deadline for individual comment on the Comprehensive Plan is this Friday, January 10, 2020. ANCs have until February 14, 2020 to submit comments. ANC5E is planning to adopt a resolution reflecting the concerns of our residents at its January 21st public meeting. The purpose of this Saturday’s meeting is get input from our Single Member District to make sure our position is reflected in the ANC5E resolution.
