Quick Recap of BACA Meetings
The first quarter of BACA meetings and projects have been extremely eventful and productive.
In January –
William P. Regan, Principal, Urban Matters provided and overview of the final plans for the M.M. Washington building. The 90 unit senior housing project will include a 5,000 square foot community room. Commissioner Sylvia Pinkney provided an update on the disposition of JF Cooke School.
In February –
Department of Public Work Director did a great overview of how to access DPW services. Mr. Gerard Brown of Rodent and Vector Control Division presented on how to get rats out of the neighborhood. Accomplished Charter School presented on their intent to become chartered and open a early child development and grade school in Ward 5. Commissioner Bradley Thomas provided an update on the January community walk with Mayor Gray, Council Member Thomas, Chief Lanier and many of the District Agency Directors.
In March –
New 5th District Police Commander Andrew Solberg stopped by to introduce himself to our community. Sergeant Michael Boyd conducted a crime prevention workshop. Councilmember at Large Phil Mendelson provided an overview of the different legislations, including the new changes made to the anti loitering laws. CM Mendelson also provided an overview of legislations for forensic laboratories and other issues pertaining to the Committee on Public Safety & the Judiciary. CM at Large Brown and Council Member Thomas’ offices were also represented. Mr. Clifton Durant of ADT Security presented different home monitoring program.

April 4 is our next BACA Meeting
