Subject: 52 O STREET ARTIST OPEN STUDIOS – Sunday June 4th
PR Contact: Lisa Marie Thalhammer
Visitors will also have the opportunity to provide community feedback on a new mural design by 52 O Street visual artist Lisa Marie Thalhammer. This mural will be located across the street from the Art Studios at Open Arms Housing (57 O Street NW) who provide permanent homes with a welcoming and supportive environment to women who are homeless. This project is funded by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities Public Art Building Communities Grant Program.
52 O Street Artist Studios is the oldest, longest lasting live/work space for artists in the District of Columbia. Occupied by artists since 1978, both emerging and established artists have lived, made art, and thrived here for close to 40 years. The building provides both living spaces and creative studio spaces to a variety of artists and designers in different mediums. FAB LAB DC (1418 North Capitol Street NW) produces workshops, events, speaker series, and exhibitions & provides access to digital fabrication technology and the global Fab Lab network. 7 Drum City (1506 North Capitol Street NW) offers drum lessons, youth rock camps, rehearsal space to musicians, and community events in their eclectic 9-room studio. All conveniently located a short walk from the NOMA Metro Station on the Red Line, in the Washington D.C. Truxton Circle neighborhood, off North Capitol between New York and Florida Avenues Northwest.
The buildings will be open for visitors to explore and meet the artists from noon to 6pm on Sunday June 4, 2017. Participating artists, designers and art educators include:
