ALLEY-OOP MURALS & MUSIC FESTIVAL! The DC Alley Museum’s Alley-Oop Festival celebrates the addition of new murals by Bill Warrell, Lisa Marie Thalhammer, Billy Colbert, Rose Jaffe, Jim Duckworth, Stephen E Lewis and Captain.Izabella.Sparrow to this outdoor public art collection.
The fun begins on Saturday, September 23rd, during Shaw Main Streets’ ART ALL NIGHT 2017: Made in DC, DC’s free overnight arts festival, with live music, projections and street entertainers, as the DC Alley Museum’s murals are illuminated at night for the very first time. Enjoy live music with the radiantly presented murals and mosaics as well as projections by Robin Bell as the backdrop, plus other festivities in Blagden Alley like dragon dancers and street performances. Also, be sure to enjoy great food and drink, like dan dan noodles to go from Tiger Fork and award-winning cocktails at the country’s newly proclaimed “Best American Cocktail Bar,” Columbia Room.
On Sunday, September 24th, join us for a family friendly celebration of the artists’ new works with an official ribbon cutting with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Film screenings, children’s arts activities including paint sessions with DC Alley Museum artist Bill Warrell and #Shawsome fence art creator Sydney Buffalow, street entertainers, yoga, live music and more take over Blagden Alley for day two of the Alley-Oop Festival.
