In 2008, residents of the 211 public housing units at Temple Courts near NoMa were asked to leave while their homes were demolished and rebuilt under a new DC program. Then, nothing happened.The area instead became a parking lot.
Last month a plan was finally selected to replace those homes and to build many more new ones, after months of working with displaced residents and other community members.

In the spring of 2016 the city initiated the OurRFP process, which prioritizes community input before the city issues a formal request for proposals (RFP) for the site. Last month a winning proposal was selected. Tenant leaders were able to inform the planning process from the beginning and Sarosh Olpadwala, Director of Real Estate at NCI, called the WIN-tenant combination a “fantastic resource.”
