“North Capitol Street needs assessment, engagement tool”

See this Eckington list post from ANC5E04 Commissioner Sylvia Pinkney regarding North Capitol Street:

The NoMa Business Improvement District (NoMa BID) has been concerned for some time that the dated and inadequate condition of the infrastructure on North Capitol Street (street lights, plantings, crossings and medians) serves as a barrier within the neighborhood and to other neighborhoods farther to the west. The full extent of this important corridor has not been studied in a long time and, for the most part, the public and privately-owned properties there have not made significant investments in their adjacent public space. As a result, North Capitol Street between Massachusetts Avenue and R Street is now in serious need of infrastructure updates and safety improvements.

To draw public attention to the important issues facing North Capitol Street and to develop a prioritized list of needed repairs and replacements, the NoMa BID has budgeted funds and engaged a transportation infrastructure design firm, RK&K, and a community-focused urban design and stakeholder engagement firm to study pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic needs on North Capitol Street from Massachusetts Avenue to R Street. We need the help of residents, property owners and businesses along North Capitol Street to provide critical information to the planning team working on this project.
