Arrest Made and Additional Suspect Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) Offense: Unit Block of N Street, Northwest
(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, April 26, 2019, in the Unit block of N Street, Northwest.
At approximately 4:49 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect then entered a vehicle and fled the scene.
On Monday, May 6, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 28 year-old Dominic Balial Copeland, of Rockville, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
This case remains under investigation. MPD still seeks the public’s help in locating 27 year-old Artie Byrd, of Northwest, DC. Byrd is wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant in reference to this case and can be seen in the photo below.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Artie Byrd, or has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a shooting committed in the District of Columbia.
