Subject: New York Avenue Playground Meeting, ANC5E April Public Meeting, Providence Hospital Repurposing
Good Morning Friends & Neighbors:
Please note the following events all scheduled for the week of April 22nd:
TUESDAY– The April public meeting of ANC5E, which was postponed from this past Tuesday due to the D.C. Emancipation Day holiday, will take place next Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 7:00 pm, at Friendship-Armstrong Public Charter School, 111 O Street, N.W. In addition to the usual business items, we are expecting to hear from a representative of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the entity which prosecutes most crimes in the District of Columbia, and a representative of the D.C. Humane Rescue Alliance, on the city’s feral cat program.
WEDNESDAY– A New York Avenue Playground Community Engagement Meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., at the playground, 100 N Street, N.W. The purpose of this meeting is to get input from community stakeholders as to how we want the $500,000, which has been set aside in this year’s D.C. budget, to be spent. We need to know what you want to see at the playground by way of equipment, staffing and programming. This event will be hosted by the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) whose representative will be present to listen and learn from residents. Members and officers of both H.A.C.A. and B.A.C.A. are strongly urged to attend.
THURSDAY– A community meeting and focus group forum on the redevelopment of Providence Hospital will occur on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., in the Providence Ground Floor Lecture Hall, 1150 Varnum Street, N.E. This meeting is being hosted by the healthcare advisory firm Dynamics Advisors, for the purpose of getting the input of residents into the plans to redesign the property and its facilities to provide skilled nursing home and complimentary services consistent with the future of healthcare delivery and the needs of the community. Residents will also have the opportunity to hear from the new leadership at Providence and ask any questions they might have. If you are interested in attending this meeting , please RSVP to nicole.commodore@ascension.org. When arriving, enter at Main Entrance of the hospital and report to the Welcome Desk for Check-In/Instructions.
